Olympic National Park Ski Backpack : May 22nd-May 25th 2008. Skied Hurricane Hill with Scott one day, camped at the Dungenous Spit campground, then met up with Phil and Martina, backpacked in on Obstruction Point Road and SKIED for a couple days. Gorgeous! ALL OF THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN BY SOMEONE ELSE! Except for the bear. Some from Scott, some from Phil. The first day of backpacking was so rainy, I threw my camera back in the car, as all I had was the big SLR at the time. I was lucky it didn't get stolen.

Silver Star 2006 : The usual Thanksgiving trip up North of the border. Not many pictures, but it was a fantastic trip, as usual! I love this place, and so do all the Northwest xc skiers, apparently, as we saw many people from the Pass. In our house, this time, there was Scott, Doc and Me, Ellen P., Yuka, Brian and Yvonne, Jill, Phil, Martina, Chris Snow, Amy and Jay and Edan and Keira, Kurt and Nancy and Maren, and Ren...

Fryingpan Glacier July 2006 : July 15-16, 2006, with Scott and Doc. Repeat of last year's trip to Rainier to ski the Fryingpan Glacier.

Mt. Ruth : Left Saturday July 8, camped at trailhead, (saw Paul AGAIN!) up and hiking by 6 AM. Snowfree all the way to Hannegan Pass. Hiked up to the glacier, found NO crevasses (quite a change from last time) and hoofed up to the summit by about 10:30. Counted 7 climbers on the way down from Icy on the glacier. Jeff Irving (from Bellingham) showed up at the summit, and I hiked down with him to Hannegan Pass, while Scott skied down. Snow looked good.. I was pretty jealous. But nice to hike with just a day pack for once. The only problem was the mud PIT of a trail right up from the pass...yuk. Ice Ax was handy here. Back to the car by 2:30. Not bad for about 14 miles? Heard a Flicker pecking in the trees, and a Swainson's thrush in the woods (spiraling call), saw a white Ptarmigan, a tiny hummingbird, and I saw a Varied Thrush. The hills were alive!

Fryingpan Glacier : Fourth of July Weekend, 2005 : Scott, Doc, and I traveled to Mt. Rainier National Park, car camped at the White River Campground, did a fun loop hike one day on the Mt. Burroughs trail, then schleped the skies and boots on our backs up the Summerland trail the next day for an awesome awesome July ski on Fryingpan Glacier on Mt. Rainier. Spectacular views of Mt. Tahoma and the Emmons glacier, Mt. Adams, herds of mountain goats, ladybugs, wildflowers, and even two dead birds lying mysteriously in the snow.
